NEPAL RE

Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited, established on November 7, 2014, succeeded the Insurance Pool set up in 2003 to cover terrorism-related damages. Formally inaugurated on December 22, 2014, by Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat, Nepal Re operates under the Companies Act, 2006, in a PPP model with government equity participation.

HIMALAYAN RE

Himalayan Re, Nepal’s first private reinsurance company, was established in 2021 with an authorized capital of NRS 21 billion. It supports life and general insurers in Nepal and abroad. Promoted by top Nepalese business houses and financial institutions, it has received a B (Fair) Financial Strength Rating and a bb+ (Fair) Credit Rating from AM Best.
